ReplyDeleteThe most important part of this project is the restoration of the different sites down at Kahalu’u because it is helping to either rebuild or restore the different sites and hei’aus built by the old Hawaiians.
Yes, this project has helped me to grow as a person through working with others(team work) and working out on the land with my hands an getting dirty which is not something I usually partake in.
I have learned a lot of new chants and dances that are new to me, and I have also learned about a lot of new areas in the ahupua’a of Kahalu’u.
I am twenty five percent Hawaiian and although I know some stuff about my culture this field trip has definitely broadened my horizons and helped me to appreciate it a lot more.

ReplyDeleteI think that the most important part of this project is being able to learn how to plane table map, because mapping is part of restoring the hawaiian clulture.

ReplyDeleteI think the most important part of this project was the fact of being able to explore the hawaiian culture. Trying to restore something that was ruined.Such as restoring a collapse heiau and try and make a plane table mapping. This project has somewhat help me grow as a person in the way of understanding some of the ways the hawaiians did things. I didn't know that there were many heiaus out there that have some many different meaning to. And why they docertain things for the heiaus such as sacrifice and certain blessings. And from that expericence I am more aware of what kind of things are out there. Since i am proudly a hawaiian I got a chances to explore new things and be able to have a great depth understanding about oli's, their way of thinking, and a haka (dance).

ReplyDelete1)To me the most important part of this project isn't just mapping and working on he heiau but doing it respectfully is the most important part to me.
2)Honestly I know that it will but so far i have only been on one field trip and I honestly don't think that one is enough to change me as a person but to have a totally different view of these things yes.
3)I didn't know that there were heiaus that didn't allow women to be on, but now I know that if I was to go out and look at a heiau I will be distanced away from it unless I am with a kapuna that knows the heiau.
4)In this project I have learned a lot about the hawaiian names for the land and places and why they gave them those names.
I think the most part of this project is to working on the Hui Kaha Pohaku.I was having a good time to learn about the many different thing that i knew it for my life.working in those heiau it does really mainful for everybody who does not really know about it.

ReplyDeleteThe most important part o this project is learning about the hawaiian culture and how till; this day we have old hawaiian things here and we should take care of it by re-building heiaus and taking care of the land. Because the hawaiians culture will last forever. Yes it has help me grow as a person because I am hawaiian and I learned things that I never learned before. What I leanred about the hawaiian culture that I didn't know was that many heiaus are runind and hawaiians had war so they traveled all the way to the island and fought. Yes it will help me in the future because now i know more than before. It's also good to know about your culture.
