  1. I really enjoyed the trip to Kahalu’u. I was enriched with all the Hawaiian culture and I looked forward to going again. I was able to learn about the different heiau sites and how to plane able map. I enjoyed chanting and learning about the Ke’eku, and Pa’oumi.

Learning about the Hawaiian culture brings me closer to my culture. Understanding what our ancestors use Heiaus for and what were the certain purposes for their things they did.
Also being able to oli to ask for permission to come in, and to ask for knowledge. What a great experience.

My feelings about this field trip are that it was a lot of fun learning how to plane table map. I learned how to set up the plane table map. We practiced next to an old Hawaiian village, chanting when asking to enter was pretty gnarley because we had to do it good or uncle Mahealani would make us do it again.

After reading her blog i could agree on some of what she said. i enjoyed learning how to put together the plane table map and finding where each flag is put. Although it was hot it was alright.

Sounds uninteresting. plane table mapping and repeating hawaiian chants doesn't sound like any fun.

I didn't like being in the hot sun and working. We learned how to use the plane table map and how to setup the whole tool.
On this field trip we went out practiced mapping flags and it turned out to be pretty difficult.

Plane table mapping sounds very interesting and I look forward to doing it. It is very cool that there is another school there that we can meet. I am excited to learn the different chants and take [part in plane table mapping.
